10:00 | 29 august 2013

Dastan Ykybaev in the weight class up to 73 kg was the only representative of our country yesterday, on August, 28, at the World Judo championship (senior group) in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Such a high responsibility was rested on the strong shoulders of our judoka – he justified the trust of trainers and supporters as much as possible.

Having started the meetings decisively, Dastan overcame a rival from China in the first round, furthermore he defeated an opponent from Israel. Dastan Ykybaev showed his vigor and will to win in the fight with the Georgian Tatalashvili. As a result, the grapple was finished by a crushing defeat of the Georgian rival.

In the grapple for semifinal Dastan met with a French Ugo LaGrand. Long fight was finished by the French rival’s victory, but Dastan clearly showed the entire World, that their strength was equal.

On health grounds, Japanese judoka Riki Nakaya couldn’t go on tatami for the bronze fight, and Dastan automatically got a chance to fight for the third place. He combated for “bronze” with a judoka Dirk Wan Tichel (Belgium). Unfortunately, Dastan didn’t manage to win, and he finished the competition. Totally, Dastan Ykybaev took the fifth line of rating in the weight class up to 73 kg.

It should be noted that Kazakhstani judokas entered TOP-8 of the best World sportsmen during the last three days as much as possible – it’s a very high indicator. Let us remind that on previous days Eldos Smetov and Askhat Telmanov (August, 26) took the seventh line of the rating in their weight classes. Azamat Mukanov won the silver of the World championship yesterday.

Today our judoka Dauletkhan Zhakypov in the weight class up to 81 kg appears against Sweinburn Iura from Iceland.

You can watch the fights in online regime on ippon.tv web-site at 7 p.m. (on Astana time).
