​The Asian Games results: “The game for sport, the game for knowledge”

The fights for the prize-winning places are finished, solemn closing ceremony of the second Asian Youth Games in Nanking (China) has been held. 2430 sportsmen from 45 Asian countries competed in 17 sports, including weightlifting, judo and taekwondo, from August, 16 to August, 24.

Kazakhstani national team won 10 medals at these competitions, and with such a credit, the team took the 12’Th line of the 45 countries team rating.

Our judokas, taekwondo sportsmen and a weightlifter won 5 medals of 10 ones. First day, young Kazakhstani judoka Anatoliy Durachenko won the “bronze” in the weight class up to 55 kg. Furthermore, Zhanar Kashkyn (63 kg) in judo-combats also took the bronze medal.

Young weightlifter Ekaterina Stolyarenko continued a medal tendency – in the weight class up to 58 kg the athlete gained 186 kg (85+101) totally and took the third place.

Taekwondo sportsman Erasyl Kaiyrbek took the next medal. In his weight class (53 kg) Erasyl Kaiyrbek became a bronze prize-winner of the complex contests.

Kazakhstani taekwondo sportswoman Fariza Aldangorova won the “silver” medal of the Asian Games, having conceded to a rival from the Philippines in final.

Triumphers return home with such the high results – to train and to prepare for the next competitions.

The Asian Youth Games are carried out according to the Olympic system once in four years under the auspices of the Asian Olympic council. The first games took place in Singapore in 2009, the next ones would be held in Hambatota, Sri Lanka.

As vice-president and Secretary General of the Asian Youth Games organizing committee Yan Lew said at the opening ceremony: “These games are not only for sport, these games are for expanding knowledge among youth”.
