Islam Bozbaev: “My “final” disappointed me”
Unexpected case happened on the second day of the world Judo Grand-Prix in Almaty (September, 28-29). The destiny of the golden medal in the weight class up to 90 kg must have been decided in fight between Kazakhstani Islam Bozbaev and Hurshid Nabiev from Uzbekistan. However, only Bozbaev went on tatami after the final fight beginning. He won before the appointed time, disappointed, he returned to changing room.
- They say that my opponent has got a trauma and didn’t manage to participate in final fight, - Bozbaev explains. – Of course, I’m disappointed, because I have had two striking victories over the Russian and the Brazilian. I felt splendid and was sure that I was able to take the golden medal. It’s no so interesting to win such high medal so easily.
If I would shortly tell about the world championship in Brazil, so, of course, I wanted to show the result. It’s a pity that it has not happened. Apparently, Judo God was not on my side that day (smiling).
I’m not going to fight at the Grand-Prix in Tashkent (October, 5-6), because the main squad of Kazakhstani national team will not go there. We fly to Moscow on October, 6, for the medical inspection, and then we go to the session in Belarus. Furthermore, Club world championship starts, there we are going to defend the colors of our “TAK Astana Club”
