The World Judo championship starts on August, 26 in Brazil
Kazakhstan men’s team list of judoists who will stand for the honor of our country in the World championship in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) was announced.
Thus, Maxim Rakov (weight category up to 100 kg), who is the gold medalist of the World Championship in 2009 and silver medalist in 2011, became the captain of the national men’s team. Besides Maxim Rakov, eight other Kazakh judoists will take part in the World Championship. The head coach of the Kazakhstan men’s national team Ermek Imanbekov reported than the following athletes will go to Brazil: Eldos Smetov and Askhat Telmanov in the weight category up to 60 kg, Sergey Lim and Azamat Mukanov in the weight category up to 66 kg, Ertugan Torenov in the weight category up to 73 kg, Dauletkhan Zhakypov – up to 81 kg, Islam Bozbayev – up to 90 kg, and Yerzhan Shynkeyev in the weight category over 105 kg. For Askhat Telmanov, Ertugan Torenov and Dauletkhan Zhakypov participation in the World Championship will be the first.
According to Ermek Imanbekov, they used combination of activities to train for the World Championship. First, athletes went through the training in the mountains, then in Moscow. Now the judoists are on the final stage of the preparation which consists of 10 days training in Borovoye , where the athletes with the coach work intensely on tactics and psychological techniques. Athletes of the Kyrgyzstan national judo team as well as Kazakhstan national Greco-Roman team undergo the training together with Kazakhstan judoists. Climate and provided conditions help the athletes not only do their best when exercising but also go through the recovery process after the trainings.
The team is going to fly to Brazil as early as August, 15. As the head coach explained, the athletes will need time for acclimatization and adaption due to the significant differences in climate. Ermek Imanbekov hopes that 9 days will be enough for Kazakhstan judoists to get used to unusual for them weather and time conditions and they will show their best at the Championship.
The World Judo Championship will take place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from August, 26 till August, 31 2013.
