The World Judo Championships will take place for the first time in the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana, from the 24th till 30th of August, 2015. There will gather 823 sportsmen (495 men and 328 women) from 137 countries. The capital will be visited by about 1,000 guests from around the world, including coaches, presidents of the Federations and other officials. 200 journalists have submitted an application for participation at the event. World Championships will be held on the eve of the Olympic Games that enhances its importance for all participants.

The venue of the competition - Ice Palace "Alau". Competitions will be held in 7 weight categories among men and women, also held the team championship.

Official press-conference with participation of the International Judo Federation will be held on August 23 at 14.30 in the hotel "Rixos".

It should be noted that Congress of the International Judo Federation will be held in the framework of the championship, which is held once in two years. The last Congress was held in Brazil. The Congress considers the re-election of members of administration of the International Federation and other issues regarding the work of the Federation (IJF). The Championships is going to be broadcast approximately in 150 countries, namely: Japan, France, Brazil, China, Russia, the Netherlands, Argentina, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Mongolia, USA and others. In Kazakhstan, the channel "Kazsport" has the rights for broadcasting. All spectators will be able to watch all the events live.

The Republic of Kazakhstan will be introduced by the first part of the national team, which includes the world champion Maxim Rakov (Rotterdam, 2009), World Championships silver medalist Azamat Mukanov (Rio de Janeiro, 2013), champion of Asian Games Eldos Smetov (Incheon, 2014), Olympic Games participants Alexandra Podryadova (London, 2012), Gulzhan Issanova (Beijing 2008 and London, 2012) and other athletes.

The President of the International Judo Federation Marius Vizer gave the flag of international organization to the President of the Kazakhstan Judo Federation Mr. Rakishev Kenes at the official closing ceremony of the World Championships in Chelyabinsk (Russian Federation) last year.
