Judoka Bauyrzhan Zhauyntayev participating in the 55 kg category won a gold medal at the world championship among cadets. Bauyrzhan has become the first cadet of Kazakhstan to have stepped on the top of the pedestal of the world championship. He won his first bout against Peruvian Patino Vilagra and then he won his next bout against Karo Marandyan from Ukraine within a minute by ippon. A match that allowed him to move on to the semifinals against American Adonis Dias, Bauyrzhan won by ippon as well as the semifinals match against Georgian Erekle Arkhozashvili.

The most difficult match of the tournament for the Kazakhstani young wrestler was the final bout against Italian Elios Manzi, the silver medal winner of the youth world championship-2011. No one had a decisive advantage over four minutes of a bout and each had a warning. So, wrestlers had to continue the bout in the extra time “golden score”. At the 44th second Manzi received a second shido for passivity which was a factor in this even bout and gave a victory for Bauyrzhan Zhauyntayev.

As a result of the first day of the world championship, Kazakhstan athletes had the following results: Kanat Seilkhan had the seventh place in the 50 kg category and Adiya Saiyn had the fifth place in the 40 kg category.

The cadet world championship is taking place in Miami, USA, from August 8 through August 11. 532 athletes from 79 countries take part in the tournament. Today, August 9, girls will compete in 48 and 52 kg categories and boys in 60 and 66 kg categories.
